About
ARKEN lies like a stranded ship a stone's throw from Køge Bay and is beautifully placed in the surrounding beach park. The building, which is one of the most distinctive edifices of the 1990s, definitely merits a visit in itself.
Inside visitors can enjoy internationally rated art exhibitions and a permanent exhibition, which contains Danish, Northern and international art from 1990 onwards, including works by the controversial British artist Damien Hirst and the German rising star Anselm Reyle.
ARKEN also has a wonderful museum shop packed with interesting design articles and a café, where visitors can enjoy the chef’s delicious food.
